Requirements
To be eligible to join Beta Alpha Psi, you must meet the below requirements. Please contact Tracy at publicrelations@uhbap.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Undergraduate students
Below are the two designations undergrad students can apply as.
- Candidate
- Have a current minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
- Have a current minimum 3.0 major or intended major GPA in accounting, finance or MIS courses. You cannot include MIS 3300 and FINA 3332 in this GPA.
- Have completed at least one 3000-level major course in Accounting, Finance, or MIS beyond the business core. This does not include MIS 3300 and FINA 3332.
- Associate
- Have a current minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
- Have not taken and are not enrolled in 3000-level major course in Accounting, Finance, or MIS.
- Associates are able to get a head start on their career by getting access to the exclusive networking and professional development opportunities offered by Beta Alpha Psi. However, you are not eligible to become a member at the end of the semester.
Please note that you must apply for the designation that you meet the qualifications for. You may not apply to be an associate if you meet the qualifications to be a candidate and vice versa.
Graduate students/CAP students
For graduate and CAP students, membership qualifications hinge upon where you completed your undergraduate degree. All graduate and CAP students can only be a candidate. There is no associate status.
- If you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or MIS from UH, you must:
- Have a minimum 3.25 cumulative undergrad GPA.
- Have a minimum 3.0 major undergrad GPA.
- Must be enrolled in a 5000-level or 7000-level accounting, finance or MIS course.
- If you have a bachelor’s degree in another major (not accounting, finance or MIS) from UH:
- Have completed at least one semester of accounting, finance or MIS graduate courses.
- Have a minimum 3.25 cumulative graduate GPA.
- If you have a bachelor’s degree in any major from another university, you must:
- Have completed at least one semester of accounting, finance or MIS graduate courses.
- Have a minimum 3.25 cumulative graduate GPA.
